The Begening

Our journey began with just five Mini Highland cow and a dream. Over the years, we carefully selected and bred the smallest and best quality cattle, growing into one of the largest breeders of Mini Scottish Highlands on the East Coast. Along the way, we’ve remained committed to sharing our passion through education, hands on experiences, and helping others discover the opportunities miniature cattle provide.

We’re a 50 acre family farm in Maine’s Howard Hill, dedicated since 2019 to raising Micro and Mini Scottish Highland cattle, Miniature Donkeys, Nigerian Dwarf Goats and %100 Wagyu Cattles with quality genetics, gentle temperaments, and smaller calf sizes.

Micro and mini Highlands offer all the charm and hardiness of full sized cattle without the strain on land or equipment making them a perfect fit for today’s small farms and homesteads.

A Heritage of Resilience

The Scottish Highland breed originated in the rugged Highlands of Scotland as early as the 14th century. Settlers needed cattle that could survive harsh winters, provide rich milk, and offer lean meat all while thriving on small homesteads. Our goal is to raise healthy, happy goats who are beautiful and friendly. We sell our goats for show, 4-H, breeding, backyard milkers, and as wonderful pets.

our goats thrive on great nutrition, fresh air, and lots of daily love and attention. Indeed, they are cherished members of our family. We strive to maintain a healthy, clean herd.

We test our herd for CAE, CL, and Johne’s Disease. The test results on 1-28-25 were negative for each of our goats! In order to ensure our goats remain healthy, we maintain a “closed” herd.

Any does that are added to our herd are from doelings that were born on our farm. Any buck that we may bring in will be tested before joining the herd.

Miniature Donkeys

Miniature Donkeys are about as close to the perfect pet as you can get. They are adorable from the moment they are born… and are without a doubt one of the most loveable and affectionate critters in the animal kingdom. They thrive on attention and have an amazing amount of love to give in return.

Miniature Donkeys are remarkably hardy and healthy. They do require preventative vaccinations, should be de-wormed regularly and have their hooves trimmed every 2 -3 months or as needed. They are very tolerant of heat and cold, as long as they have shelter and are fed properly. They should have unlimited access to fresh water and require pasture and/or good quality grass hay along with a small amount of grain. They need pasture areas large enough for them to run, play, roll in the dirt and graze… Rotating pasture areas is recommended. Up to 5 donkeys can usually be kept on as little as 1 acre of land, but supplementing with grass hay is usually necessary.

Well, that is a loaded question… the answer is, it depends… if  you have a large pasture they will live off of that and supplements during the summer, but during the winter they may need hay and grain to maintain their health.  It’s not an exact science, but we can help you figure out what your cattle need to eat, if you are overfeeding or not, and what supplements and grains are good to feed.

The general rule of thumb is one cow needs two acres of space if you are using your space to graze your cows and you don’t want to supplement with extra hay.  However, remember most dairy farms have 200 cattle inside one building, so the answer is again, it depends: what do you want your farm or home to look like?

Do you want green grass year round that the cattle will graze on and never eat all of it? In that case, maybe you need 10 acres for your two cows. Or do you want to feed hay and keep your cows in an area with no grass? Then maybe you only need a half-acre space… again, it’s all based on personal preference.  With all that said, we have 60 acres and if we could, we would add about 200 more. And everyone we talk to feels the same way. You can never have too much space on a farm!
